On an emotional day, Wally Berg and his entire team reached the summit of Kilimanjaro. Check out the dispatches from the
roof of Africa...
"Our acclimatization plan has been to traverse
the most beautiful parts of this mountain beneath the glaciers and walking up and down the valleys that were formed by the
volcanic action..."
Wally Berg and his team have just climbed to 14,000-feet on the south glacier off of Kibo and hope to summit this weekend. Listen to the songs of Swahili
he sent back...
"One of the joys we had was after hiking a number of hours we rounded a bend and Hodson our chief cook and the staff had stopped and prepared
our lunch and set it up..."
This climb is a little different...and very special. Named Climb For A Cure, the members of this expedition hope to raise awareness of ALS (Lou Gehrig's disease) and to honor those
lost to the disease.
